"the right to be loved"
My piece is a metaphor for how every child and adult should feel and has the right to feel: loved. Love should surround them and comfort them like a child in the arms of a mother. Kids all over the world are neglected, but all they need to know is that they are appreciated and special. Child Trends Data Bank says that children who are shown affection have “higher self-esteem, better parent-child communication, and fewer psychological and behavioral problems.” An insufficient amount of affection can lead to “feelings of alienation, expressions of hostility and aggression, diminished self-esteem, [as well as] antisocial and risky behaviors.” I used photography along Adobe Illustrator to create my piece by blocking in color to give it a simplistic look.
